Alabama Real Estate License Requirements The information contained below is designed to provide a summary of the minimum education, experience, and examination requirements established by the Alabama Real Estate Commission. www.arec.alabama.gov Contact the Real Estate Commission for more detailed information and for any changes which may have occurred.
Prelicense Course
Be 19 years of age to obtain license,
Have a High School Diploma or GED,
Be a US citizen or registered alien,
Have not commited a felony or crime of moral terptitude,
Complete a 60 hour, state approved, prelicense course,
Must pass course final exam (minimum grade of 70), and
Pass the state exam (minimum grade of 70 ).
Post-License Course
Complete a 30 hour, state approved, postlicense course within 6 months of receiving license, and pass a course final exam (grade of 70 required to pass).
Continuing Education Courses
Licensees must complete 15 hours of state approved courses every 2 years, in order to remain actively licensed. These courses must include 6 hours of Mandatory course work including:
Risk Management (Must take this 3 hour course), and
One of these 3 hour courses:,
ADA, Equal Opportunity and Fair Housing, RECAD,
License Law & Trust Funds
The remaining 9 hours are from approved elective courses.
